Every day I’m hustling! 2 weeks ago I drove 8 hours to Saint Louis. With my 5 months old in the back seat, we left Atl at 4 am. So what was so important? It was time to be a hustling hottie!
I received a call at 6 pm the night before that a production company needed a studio teacher in St. Louis. They were willing to double the daily rate for a grand total of $525. With the potential for more opportunities like this one, I loaded up the car for a road trip.
*Side note*: a studio teacher is a teacher who works on movies and television shows to monitor and teach children who act on the production. It is required by law in most states that production companies have a studio teacher on staff when children are acting to make sure that the child doesn’t work more than the legal hours stated in the Child Labor laws.
I arrived in St. Lois 1 hour before the shoot began. I checked in the hotel room that I booked via a last minute hotel deal on priceline.com during the oil change pit stop that the car required.
I dropped the baby and his babysitter off at the hotel and arrived at the home of Janae from the show Welcome to Sweetie Pies. I arrived before the production company so check out the video below that I shot on the scene.
Once the production company arrived I met my little charge whose name was T.J. a rumbustious 5-year-old. My job was to play with him and make sure that he wasn’t overworked. We wrapped with 2 hours and I was on my way home. I was tired but well paid for 2 hours of work.
The next day my little man and I explored the city. Please see our pictures below St. Louis is a beautiful city. I wouldn’t change this life for the world.
So what do you need to do to be able to make over $250 an hour? What do you need to live a life that you love? Do you have a side hustle that you do to make extra money? Tell me about it in the comments!
Have you subscribed to my email list so you can find out more about jobs like this one?
I don’t understand. What’s a studio teacher? Why does a production company need a studio teacher?
This could be explained in more detail…
Thank you for commenting Rose. Please see the side note that was added for an explanation! 🙂
WOW, that sounds like an amazing job, and you get to see amazing cities, where did you leave from to get there? I’m in Chicago so that is what I am assuming. The work sounded easy and the benefit was great city tourist and ability to share with your little man.. Loved the video that you added..
My side hustle is that of AVON and i understand how you can just pickup and go and get things accomplished, the other day I did just that I went had a meeting and then came home placed my products into a wagon and went to a local corner set up and got my time in and was a happy camper for the rest of the night.
thank you for the post.
Rhonda, I live in Atlanta. SMH! I wish I was in Chicago. But I was able to contract my friend from Chicago to do more days for me.
A road trip for a couple hours of work and good money, sweeeeet! And now I know what a Studio Teacher actually does 🙂
Kemya, I was happy! I love traveling for work!
Wow, I love that show! Very interesting side hustle.
Thanks, Tamyka!
Sounds like the long trip was definitely worth it. I never heard of studio teachers before this article, but it seems like a great job for people who live close to popular filming locations…or who don’t mind traveling. 🙂
Dequiana, it was long but worth it since I established a relationship with that production company. There are many production companies here in Atlanta so hopefully my next job is here.
That is awesome!! I am doing virtual assistant work where I help other entrepreneurs handle the back office tasks, but I’m also helping to coach others on building their businesses. Along with those things, I’m creating a magazine for women bosses and a website/blog. So I’ve got a ton going on. 🙂
Abigail, you sound like me! Contact me if you ever want to work together!
Very interesting side hustle! I never heard of that before. Are you planning to share how your readers can cash-in as a studio teacher in another post?
Sarah, I will have to do that! Stay tuned!
I had never heard the term “studio teacher” before. Sounds like a fun and interesting job! I always wondered how celebrity kids received their education while on the job. I just assumed that their parents hired a private tutor.
I don’t think many people have heard of it before, Leslie. I know it’s big in California.
Side hustling is something that I have to get into. I can always use more money to fund my future dreams. Thank you for sharing.
That is awesome!!! Not only did you get paid well for that quick work trip, but you also got to enjoy a beautiful city. I spoke at an engagement recently, and I was so excited to not only be able to do what I love but to get to travel (virtually free) too!!!
